I am an enterprise server administrator specialized in UNIX and Linux operating systems, WebSphere servers and business intelligence applications such as IBM Cognos Analytics and Cognos TM1. I graduated from networks and telecommunications engineering in 2012, and I have 4 years of experience managing the development and production environments of a business intelligence dashboard used by thousands of executives from a very large company as a decision making tool. Afterwards, I worked for 1 year at a server hosting help desk, taking change requests and solving problem reports from worldwide clients as well as proactively maintaining software updates and solving security issues. Today, I am offering myself as a freelancer, with the goal of offering my skills to the general public without constraining them to my employer's own systems As a side gig, I am capable of translating documents in Spanish, English and French. I speak Spanish natively, I am fluent in English and I have the DELF B2 certificate for French language fluency. I also know some German.

Business intelligence sysadmin at IBM
From January 2013 to May 2017
In 2013 I was hired as an IBM regular employee and put in charge of five development servers and four production servers that powered a business intelligence dashboard used by thousands of executives throughout the company. My duties included software installations, upgrades and configurations, implementation of changes required to fulfill the changing needs of the company, security vulnerability remediation and technical support for development teams and in case of system failures. Technologies used included IBM Cognos Analytics, Cognos TM1, the AIX operating system, WebSphere Application Server, IBM HTTP Server, UNIX shell script and cron job-based automation, and IBM Cognos PowerPlay Transformer. My position ended in 2017, when the upper management took the decision to migrate my dashboard's content to another dashboard managed by a centralized help desk in order to cut down on server hosting costs. During that time I participated in the servers' shutdown processes.
Primary server admin at IBM
From May 2017 to March 2018
I worked at a help desk for an IBM-internal server hosting organization, taking care of about 120 cloud-based servers running on VMware ESX hosts, most of them running Red Hat Enterprise Linux, some of them running Windows Server 2008 and 2012. Duties included execution of changes requested by clients, problem addressing and resolution, proactive resolution of software updates and vulnerabilities by means of IBM-internal automated processes, and some degree of engagement with clients mostly from China, India, Argentina and Brazil. My position ended in March 2018 due to a staff downsize in IBM's Guadalajara campus.
